The prosperous mid north township of Jamestown with a population of approx 1600 (2016 census) is located 207 kilometres from Adelaide via Clare.
Major products of the area are grain, legumes, wool and timber. In 2017 US tech giant Tesla won a bid to build a 129 megawatt hour battery at nearby Hornsdale Wind Farm. It was completed in November 2017 and was the largest of its kind in the world.
